Aslak Haanshuus Arkitekter : Maison à Sjusjøen

Perched at more than 1 000 meters above sea level, a discreet home designed by the local Aslak Haanshuus Arkitekter dominates the ski area of Sjusjøen (Norway). Anchored in the mountains, the cottage blends into the Scandinavian landscape while offering its residents a comfortable and warm place to rest.

Located in the valley of Gudbrandsdalen, this 133 square meter chalet is designed to accommodate experienced skiers and hikers and their guests during their winter holidays in the resort of Sjusjøen, one of the most popular in the north-east of the country. .

If the appearance of the house made of black stained pine wood echoes the mountain architecture of the region, it is not the case in its interior design and decoration. From west to east, the building is graduated in six different levels according to the complex topography of the site, while offering varied views to the rooms arranged in a Z-shaped plan. It hosts in the central part an open kitchen and a living room; on the one hand, there are three rooms in the east wing, and on the other hand, in the west zone, a gym and an extra bed.

Entirely lined with untreated pine, the angular living spaces are warm and bright, thanks to the many bay windows facing the snow-capped mountains.

A cozy nest where one would be easily carried by the reverie and return to take a ride on the tracks!
